Oral hygiene using a toothbrush and toothpaste is an integral part of general human hygiene. There are several ways of brushing teeth proposed by different authors and preference can be given to any of them, it should only be recommended to observe several important principles

* always start brushing from the same dentition;
* adhere to a certain sequence of cleaning teeth, so as not to miss any area;
* cleaning should be carried out at the same pace in order to withstand the necessary duration of cleansing;
* brush your teeth twice a day: morning and evening.

The most common standard method of brushing teeth. The dentition on the upper and lower jaws is conventionally divided into 5 segments: large molars (molars) on the right, small molars (premolars) on the right, frontal teeth, small molars on the left, large molars on the left. Teeth cleaning begins with the teeth of the upper jaw on the right: first, the large molars are cleaned, then the small molars, then the group of frontal teeth, after which they switch to the small molars on the left and finish brushing the teeth of the upper jaw by cleaning the large molars on the left. In the same order, teeth are cleaned on the lower jaw.

In each conditional segment, the vestibular (external), oral (internal) and chewing surfaces of the teeth are cleaned sequentially. When cleaning the vestibular and oral surfaces of molars and premolars, the working part of the toothbrush is positioned at an angle of 45 ° to the tooth and performs cleansing (sweeping) movements from the gum to the tooth, while simultaneously removing plaque from the teeth and gums. The chewing surfaces of the teeth are cleaned with horizontal (reciprocating) movements so that the brush fibers penetrate deep into the fissures and interdental spaces. The vestibular surface of the frontal group of teeth of the upper and lower jaws is cleaned with the same movements as molars and premolars. When cleaning the oral surface the brush handle is positioned perpendicular to the occlusal plane of the teeth, while the fibers are at an acute angle to them and capture not only the teeth, but also the gum. Finish cleaning all segments in a circular motion.
